Krzysztof Pabian - bass

Krzysztof hails from Europe as a classically-trained bassist. He studied music since he was 8 years old playing piano and than switching to double bass at the age of 14. Over the years he performed various music styles ranging from classical to jazz and rock.

Since coming to United States in 1993 he has mastered his instrumental facility and musical sensibility with the best teachers and players what is dramatically illuminated in the improvisational arena of his playing.
He studied at renewed Northwestern Unversity where he graduated with two Masters degrees in classical and jazz music. He has performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago Civic Orchestra and an array of new music ensembles working with such conductors as Pierre Boulez, Daniel Barenboim, Christopher Eshenbach, Lawrence Foster, Zubin Mehta, George Solti, Robert Spano, Christopher Wilkins and Pinchas Zukerman.

While at Northwestern where he served as a jazz department graduate assistant he had a chance to study and play with visiting artists such as Max Roach, Danilo Perez, Peter Erskine, Judy Roberts, Ron Blake and Lincoln Center Jazz Sextet.

Over the period of time from 1993-1999 Krzysztof participated in several music and art festivals such as Spoleto USA and Spoleto Italy, where he performed and recorded as a principal bassist for various musical groups.

His recent collaborations include A Cor Do Brasil, a brazilian jazz-rock project featuring drummer Luiz Ewerling, Dan Phillips Trio, a progressive jazz trio featuring guitarist Dan Phillips and drummer Tim Mulvenna, Wood To Water, a world music jazz ensemble, pianist Jon Weber featuring drummer Mark Walker and many other projects.

Krzysztof is also a first call session bass player for polish artists coming to USA to perform and record.
